DARCY JADE PHILLIPS
Her main passion is fighting the negative effects of fast-fashion through visual-storytelling, resulting in the recently launched community interest company Things Matter, alongside her good friend Jen Rojas. Things Matter CIC aims to tackle the global textile waste crisis through implementing a circular economy in the heart of North London.
Darcy’s BA Dissertation explored how both visible and 'invisible' images of Iraqis during the twentieth-century devalued their lives - using Colonial-era photography and BBC coverage of The First Gulf War as case studies. These issues of race, rights and representation are ones she explores in her own personal work.
She has recently finished her BA (Hons) Photojournalism and Documentary Photography course and previously completed a Fashion Communication Foundation Course at Ravensbourne University, where she earned a Distinction.
